What Do You Do When The Going Gets Tough?
Remember in my first post I spoke of the high failure rate in internet marketing? Well, I believe that a contributing factor is that you’re often doing this on your own. You’re putting in time, effort and money to try and make a success of this, and the people who are usually there to support you, just wish you’d give up.
When I feel that the world’s against me and inspiration is eluding me, I often turn to a motivational or success-story book or video. If you’re going through a bad patch, the video’s below may help to refocus you and get you back on the path to success.
Don’t Give Up. These Guys Didn’t…
Although I benefit from engaging in small doses of “pep talks”, many people treat motivational speakers with a huge dose of suspicion. Here are four other ways to help you stay motivated:
Visualise Your Goal. When you refocus on why it is you’re doing what you’re doing, you start focusing on the positive things in life. This leads to inspiration and the upswing in your mood will give you the strength to tackle your current problem with renewed vigour.
Avoid Negative People. It’s often argued that we’re a product of our surroundings. If you’re finding you’re struggling with something, take yourself away from the negative environment. Mix with some positive people with a “can do” attitude instead. This might mean joining a local networking group of like minded people, or perhaps an internet forum or Skype group.
Segment the Task. Sometimes your motivation wanes because the task you’re trying to achieve is just too big. Success tends not to happen overnight. Analyze what you want to accomplish and break it down into small manageable chunks. You’ll often find that each of these can be achieved quite easily and before you know it, you’ve achieved your end goal.
Sleep Well. We’re all trying to achieve our goals and for many of us it’s taking a lot of hard work and long hours. However, if you don’t get enough sleep, tiredness will win. Your productivity will fall, negativity will set in, you’ll wonder if it’s worth it and you’ll start to lose motivation. Whatever you do, get a good nights’ sleep. You’ll feel refreshed in the morning.
Over To You: We all have our bad days, but what motivates you? What do you do to get you through the tough times? Can you recommend any motivational videos or books?
